              Standards & Best Practices

              Cabling Standards (TIA-568)

              • Cat6 minimum for all data runs
              • Maximum cable length 100m (328ft) total
              • Maintain bend radius minimum 4x cable diameter
              • Use CL2/CL3 rated cable in walls
              • All runs should be tested and certified

              Labeling (TIA-606-C)

              • Label all cables at both ends
              • Use consistent naming scheme
              • Document all runs in cable schedule

              Audio (CEA-863-A)

              • 16 AWG minimum for speaker wire under 50ft
              • 14 AWG for runs 50-80ft
              • 12 AWG for runs over 80ft
              • Use in-wall rated (CL2/CL3) speaker wire
